Over 70% Pakistani’s unable to meet their monthly expenses

A new study reveals a worsening economic crisis in Pakistan, with 74% of urban households struggling to meet expenses, a 14% increase from last year.

Many are cutting essential costs, borrowing, or taking extra jobs. Despite government economic plans, the situation remains dire for millions.

A recent survey of over 1,110 respondents in Pakistan’s 11 largest cities reveals a worsening economic situation, with the percentage of households facing financial difficulties rising from 60% in May 2023 to 74% today.

The financial strain on Pakistani households is severe. Sixty percent have cut essential expenses like groceries, 40% are borrowing money, and 10% have taken part-time jobs. Additionally, 56% of those managing basic needs cannot save, reflecting the precarious state of urban finances.
