Israel expands military operations to Syrian front

December 8, 2024 — The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have shifted their primary battlefront to Syria, with IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi declaring, “Starting tonight, the main battle front will move to Syria. We will start fighting on the Syrian front and will not allow anyone to reach our borders.”

In the latest developments, Israeli airstrikes have reportedly destroyed Mezzeh Military Airport in Damascus, as well as several other targets, including the passport and migration office in the Syrian capital. Israeli forces have also advanced into the Syrian side of Mount Hermon without encountering resistance.

Meanwhile, the Rebel Southern Operations Room issued a statement expressing their inability to resist Israeli advances, stating, “This matter does not have our priority currently. We need to work on solidifying a united Syria, free of Assad.”

Tensions remain high as Israel intensifies its military operations, raising concerns about further escalation in the region.
