Israel Begins Ground Offensive With Reservists Advancing on Gaza City

Yesterday the Israeli state claimed to have called 60,000 reservists to carry out a ground offence operation in Gaza City. Officials have stated that these troops will remain in charge in September with a few that already have started the operation in the Zeitoun and Jabalia areas as part of the preparations for the plan to fully occupy Gaza, which the Defence Minister Israel Katz had approved on Tuesday.

Following this announcement the plan awaits acceptance and a go ahead by the Chief of Staff’s final approval in the upcoming days which also requests for an extension of 20,000 reservists who are currently on duty.

As a response to these hostile intentions, French President Emmanuel Macron warned that it “can only lead to disaster for both peoples and risks plunging the entire region into a cycle of permanent war” if such actions were to be continued.

These escalating plans have also heightened criticism and sparked debate in the United Nations where The UK’s deputy ambassador, James Kariuki, declared this offensive as “not a path to resolution” but instead “a path to more bloodshed.” The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also released a public appeal for restraint and an immediate ceasefire, implying criticism on actions that escalate civilian suffering, yet the Israeli administration remains unbothered.

According to a recent report on 21st August 2025, The Israeli military has announced that the first stage of its planned assault is underway, with IDF troops moving into the outskirts of Gaza city, which currently inhabits more than 1 million people.

With the Israeli military on the foothold of Gaza, the government hints its intention of breaking in anytime soon to illegally occupy and invade it entirely, tormenting millions of Palestinians once again, as many have started to flee Gaza City districts whilst the forces hold a siege on its county.

This excruciating operation on innocent Palestinians comes as a result of Israeli consideration of Gaza city as a Hamas military and governing stronghold, but it is also one of the last places of refuge where hundreds of thousands are sheltering already, displaced after almost two years of war.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he is “shortening the timelines” for seizing what he described as “the last terror strongholds” in Gaza that further fragments the situations as Israel proceeds leaving no option for the refugees but immediate evacuation.

Lastly, an Israeli military official had also told journalists that the new phase of combat would involve “a gradual, precise and targeted operation in and around Gaza City,” including some areas where forces had not previously operated, that adds on to the nation’s list of diabolical plans.

In summary these Israeli actions can be simply defined as an approach to ethnic cleansing, mass destruction, and Atrocity that has no applicable justification, but is classified as thoroughly rotten, fundamentally bad, and totally unacceptable.
