Background
The Israel Hamas War which began on October 7th 2023 and is now stretched into its 22nd month, has caused over 62,00 Palestinian deaths with around half of them being women and children. The conflict which began with a retaliatory intention on Hamas’s October 7th attack that caused 1200 deaths in Israel and abduction of 251 people, is now long overdue the the duration that would have justified Israeli revenge.
US Intervention
On 27 August 2025, special envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed that the US President Donald Trump will lead a White House meeting focused on formulating a comprehensive post-war strategy for Gaza.
The Agenda of this meeting is set at defining a common ground to set down the Israel Palestine conflict, after the recent potential threats by the Israeli Administration who are planning a full on ground offence operation in Gaza City to occupy it completely with with help of more that 60,000 reservists which the country recently deployed.
The Role of Trump Administration
Previously a few other diplomatic efforts by US and other mediation attempts by Egypt, Qatar and through the Abraham accords brokered ceasefires, but ever since Trump rose back to power, his approach differs from his rival Biden and Obama.
The Trump administration has expressed its confidence that the Israel-Hamas conflict could be resolved by the end of the year. Considering that Trump has a more direct and business styled negotiation, it is to be noted how he might wish to bring an end to this grieving conflict, and how his contribution by chairing a meeting will affect the President’s domestic and international image as a potential negotiator and diplomat who resents the idea and initiation of wars.
At the end of the day, this released statement builds a firm footing for an ambiguity into what approach might the U.S President Trump’s administration take as Witkoff said that there is “one way or another” upon stating a prospect for a possible solution to this issue that the nation wants to address.
