Five major deals boost collaboration in nuclear energy, LNG supply, and oil production between UAE and India.
In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral ties, the UAE and India have signed five major agreements, enhancing cooperation in the nuclear energy and energy sectors. These deals were finalized during Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s official visit to New Delhi, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
A key highlight of these agreements is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and India’s Nuclear Power Corporation (NPCIL). This collaboration aims to exchange nuclear energy expertise and jointly manage the operations of the Barakah nuclear plant, located in the UAE.
In another significant development, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) will supply the Indian Oil Corporation with 1 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually for the next 15 years. Additionally, ADNOC plans to increase its oil storage facilities in India, further solidifying the energy partnership between the two nations.
Furthermore, India’s Urja Bharat was awarded a production concession for oil extraction in Abu Dhabi’s Block One. To strengthen economic ties in the agriculture sector, Abu Dhabi’s ADQ has partnered with Gujarat to develop a food and agriculture park, aimed at boosting sustainable food production in India.
These agreements mark a new era of enhanced collaboration, benefiting both nations in the energy, oil, and agricultural sectors.
